Seismic monitoring of strength in stabilized foundations by P-wave reflection and downhole geophysical logging for drill borehole core

Abstract Evaluating the subground properties during initial stage of a construction building is important in order to estimate suitability soil quality technical requirements bearing capacity, resistance stress, and strength. This study presented evaluation geotechnical intended for Max IV facility Lund University, performed fieldwork laboratory. The situ methods included drilling boreholes, core sampling assessment, crosshole measurements, borehole logging. laboratory-based measurements were at Swedish Geotechnical Institute combined seismic drill cores, determination uniaxial compressive strength (UCS), examination material property: sieve analysis natural moisture content. UCS was evaluated with regard velocities elastic P-waves. synchronous light test by X-ray diffraction qualitative mineral composition samples. applied integrated approach diverse geophysical solve practical tasks on foundation parameters. demonstrated benefits exploration civil engineering testing materials.
