Selection of Plant Species for Particulate Matter Removal in Urban Environments by Considering Multiple Ecosystem (Dis)Services and Environmental Suitability

To select plant species for particulate matter (PM) removal from urban environments, it is important to consider the species’ ecosystem (dis)services and environmental suitability in addition their effectiveness PM removal. In this study, 61 were ranked using three separate models: (i) leaf traits, (ii) saturation isothermal remanent magnetization (SIRM), (iii) services disservices. The accumulation effective traits identified SIRM. each model, assigned scores weights criterion. weighted average or product (?)-value was calculated species. of multiplied by longevity area index (LAI) scale up a yearly basis per unit ground surface area. preference ranking organization method enrichment evaluations (PROMETHEE) employed disservices model because lack precise included criteria model. A scenario analysis performed determine change when modified with increased reduced Tilia cordata (Mill.), platyphyllos (Scop.), Alnus incana (L.), Acer campestre Picea abies (L.). findings study can be relevant planners recommending suitable choices development green spaces.
