Shaking Table Test on the Tunnel Dynamic Response under Different Fault Dip Angles

Fault-crossing tunnels are often severely damaged under seismic dynamics. Study of the dynamic response characteristics crossing faults is thus great engineering significance. Here, Xianglushan Tunnel Central Yunnan Water Diversion Project was studied. A shaking table experimental device used, and four sets model tests deep-buried with different fault inclination angles were conducted. Test schemes similarity ratio, similar material selection, box design, sine wave loading introduced. The acceleration strain data tunnel lining monitored. Analysis showed that when input PGA 0.6 g, compared ordinary tunnel, increases by 117% angle 75°, 127% 45°, 144% 30°. This indicates cross-fault structure stronger than effect more obvious as dip decreased. fault-crossing sensitive to dip. peak increase in much larger those tunnels, smaller dips led peak; consequently, would reach ultimate break down smaller. Generally, influence on should receive increased consideration design tunnels.
