Shape-preserving interpolation by splines using vector subdivision
We give a local convexity preserving interpolation scheme using parametric 2 C cubic splines with uniform knots produced by a vector subdivision scheme which simultaneously provides the function and its first and second order derivatives. This is also adapted to give a scheme which is both local convexity and local monotonicity preserving when the data values are strictly increasing in the x di...
متن کاملShape-preserving interpolation by G1 and G2 PH quintic splines
The interpolation of a planar sequence of points p0, . . . , pN by shape-preserving G 1 or G2 PH quintic splines with specified end conditions is considered. The shape-preservation property is secured by adjusting ‘tension’ parameters that arise upon relaxing parametric continuity to geometric continuity. In the G2 case, the PH spline construction is based on applying Newton–Raphson iterations ...
متن کاملInteractive shape preserving interpolation by curvature continuous rational cubic splines
A scheme is described for interactively modifying the shape of convexity preserving planar interpolating curves. An initial curve is obtained by patching together rational cubic and straight line segments. This scheme has, in general, geometric continuity of order 2(G continuity) and preserves the local convexity of the data. A method for interactively modifying such curves, while maintaining t...
متن کاملShape preserving interpolation by cubic G 1 splines in
In this paper, G continuous cubic spline interpolation of data points in R, based on a discrete approximation of the strain energy, is studied. Simple geometric conditions on data are presented that guarantee the existence of the interpolant. The interpolating spline is regular, loop-, cuspand fold-free.
متن کاملInterpolation by Convex Quadratic Splines
Algorithms are presented for computing a quadratic spline interpolant with variable knots which preserves the monotonicity and convexity of the data. It is also shown that such a spline may not exist for fixed knots.
