Signatures of Inflowing Gas in Red Geyser Galaxies Hosting Radio Active Galactic Nuclei

چکیده
We study cool neutral gas traced by NaD absorption in 140 local ($\rm z<0.1)$ early-type ``red geyser'' galaxies. These galaxies show unique signatures spatially-resolved strong-line emission maps that have been interpreted as large-scale active galactic nuclei driven ionized winds. To investigate the possible fuel source for these winds, we examine abundance and kinematics of T \sim 100-1000 K$) inferred from Na I D red geysers matched control samples drawn SDSS-IV MaNGA. find host greater amounts NaD-associated material. Substantial components are detected more than $\rm 50 \%$ (compared to 25\% sample) going up 78$\%$ radio-detected geysers. Our key result is predominantly infalling. Among our 30 geysers, 86$\%$ receding velocities (with respect systemic velocity) between 40 - 50~km~s^{-1}$. verify this stacking profiles across each sample which confirms presence infalling within ( $\sim\rm 40~km~s^{-1}$) with no velocity offsets samples. Interpreting observations inflowing clouds, derive an approximate mass inflow rate \dot{M}_{in} 0.1 M_{\odot} yr^{-1}$, similar expected minor merging internal recycling. Some much higher rates 5 yr^{-1}$) may indicate ongoing accretion event.

Intraday Radio Variability in Active Galactic Nuclei
Rapid flux density variations on timescales of the order of a day or less (Intraday Variability, IDV) in the radio regime are a common phenomenon within the blazar class. Observations with the 100m telescope of the MPIfR showed that the variations occur not only in total intensity, but also in the polarized intensity and in polarization angle. Here we present an overview of our IDV-observations...
متن کاملThe Central Regions of Early-Type Galaxies Hosting Active Galactic Nuclei as viewed with HST/NICMOS
We present preliminary results from surface photometry of a sample of early–type galaxies observed with NICMOS on board HST in the F160W (H-band) filter. Dust is found to occur mostly in galaxies which possess unresolved nuclei, and in a few cases the presence of dust causes the isophotes to appear boxy. We performed a 2–D modeling of the host galaxy light distribution using the empirical Nuker...
متن کاملLow Luminosity Radio Loud Active Galactic Nuclei
I review observational properties of low power radio loud AGN. High resolution VLBI observations allow the estimate of the jet velocity and orientation with respect to the line of sight and the determination of the Doppler factor. These data reveal rich structures, including two-sided jets and secondary components. New results on 1144+35, a giant radio source with superluminal motion are shown ...
متن کاملThe impact of radio feedback from active galactic nuclei in cosmological simulations: Formation of disk galaxies
In this paper, we present a new implementation of feedback due to active galactic nuclei (AGN) in cosmological simulations of galaxy formation. We assume that a fraction of jet energy, which is generated by an AGN, is transferred to the surrounding gas as thermal energy. Combining a theoretical model of mass accretion onto black holes with a multiphase description of star-forming gas, we self-c...
متن کاملThe Distribution of Active Galactic Nuclei in Clusters of Galaxies
We present a study of the distribution of AGN in clusters of galaxies with a uniformly selected, spectroscopically complete sample of 35 AGN in eight clusters of galaxies at z = 0.06 → 0.31. We find that the 12 AGN with LX > 1042 erg s−1 in cluster members more luminous than a rest-frame MR < −20 mag are more centrally concentrated than typical cluster galaxies of this luminosity, although thes...
