Single-Pole Autoreclosure in uncompensated EHV AC mixed overhead-cable lines: A parametric time-domain analysis

The successful application of the Single-Pole Autoreclosure (SPAR) to Extra-High Voltage (EHV) overhead lines (OHLs), as well portion EHV mixed cable-overhead (MLs), significantly improves system stability. SPAR success requires that secondary arc self-extinguishes during dead time: according literature, self-extinction times increase with both current and recovery voltage. Steady-state analyses MLs not equipped inductive shunt compensation showed larger currents smaller voltages compared OHLs. Since steady-state cannot give indications on times, transient studies are required assess which above effects has a prevailing influence, i.e., whether in uncompensated results hindered or facilitated. This paper presents time-domain study cycle an 400 kV-50 Hz ML, making use detailed ATP-EMTP line fault models. A parametric been carried out, evaluating current, extinction time voltage for different single-phase locations along section line. Transient simulation point out being shorter than OHLs same total length.
