SIX SIGMA IN PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDING: REUSE DEFECTIVE PARTS IN NEW ARTICLE PRODUCTION AS RAW MATERIAL INPUT OR NOT?

In production plants, re-processing of defective products and re-incorporating them into as raw materials provides the advantages reducing scrap efficient use material. However, using recycled plastic parts in new injection processes can create aesthetic problems for final product. On other hand, dimension quality that fulfills customer expectations competitive advantage. Considering this, this study, root cause problem occurs discoloration a particular component manufactured facility operating white goods industry was revealed improvement made. Six Sigma DMAIC methodology applied to reduce high rates caused by errors, it determined error reusing articles. With elimination cause, process capability improved, 3 sigma increased level 4.7 appearance product improved. This study has shown reutilization material input article is not viable approach such products.
