Slimming the Grain through Breeding Is a Practical Way to Reduce the Chalky Grain Rate of Middle-Season Hybrid Rice

The production of middle-season rice is an important part agriculture in the Yangtze River basin China. In recent years, chalky grain rate has decreased with release new cultivars. However, limited information available on factors responsible for this change rate. This study evaluated trends and size traits cultivars relationships between hybrid a province located middle reaches during 2006–2021. results indicate that recently reduced closely associated decrease width, suggesting it feasible to reduce by slimming through breeding.
