Slow strain rate technique for studying hydrogen induced cracking in 34CrMo4 high strength steel

چکیده
Alloy hardened steels offer excellent combination of mechanical properties, hardenability and corrosion resistance. 34CrMo4 is a medium carbon, low alloy steel widely used due to good high-strength, toughness wear However, this experiences hydrogen embrittlement (HE), complex phenomenon depending on the composition microstructure. This work estimates de loss properties caused by in electrochemically H-charged specimens absence stress but also, at strain rate constant load. H-charging for 2 6 h induce YS losses about 40% 71% UTS 39% 59%, respectively. The synergistic effect process leads higher loss, 91%, faster brittle fracture even though content similar those firstly then tested air.

Slow strain rate test (SSRT) represent a dynamic slowly increasing strain imposed by an external means on uniaxial tension specimen according to ASTM G 129 standard. It is used for relatively rapid screening or comparative evaluation of environmental, processing or metallurgical variables that can affect resistance of material. Testing has been accomplished on low-alloyed boiler steel 14MoV6-3 ...
متن کاملSlow Strain Rate Testing to Evaluate the Susceptibility of Welded Low Alloy Steel to Environmentally Assisted Cracking
Libya is an important oil country particularly to European countries. The combustion products of fossil fuels are causing great damage through pollution, acid rains and the greenhouse effect. Hydrogen can be stored in three different ways, as a gas, as liquid, as a material and metal hydrides. Low alloy steels have been widely used in different scale welded structures. The mechanical properties...
متن کاملInfluence of S Contents on the Hydrogen Blistering and Hydrogen Induced Cracking of A350LF2 Steel
In the present work, the effects of chemical compositions on the hydrogen blistering and hydrogen induced cracking of A350LF2 steel with different S contents were studied. Four types of A350LF2 steels were evaluated by immersing samples in H2S-saturated NACE solution. The hydrogen blistering, crack length rate(CLR), crack thickness rate(CTR) and crack sensitivity rate(CSR) were evaluated. The r...

In this study, first, diffusible hydrogen of cellulosic electrode E8010-P1 and low hydrogen electrode E8018-G was measured by mercury displacement method according to ISO3690. Then, the effect of preheating and post-heating on the sensitivity to hydrogen inducedcold cracking in welding of 18mm API5L X70 steel with these electrodes was investigated according to ISO17642-2. The results of visual in...
