Snowmass white paper: The quest to define QFT

نویسندگان

چکیده

This article provides a review of the literature on rigorous definitions and constructions in Quantum Field Theory, spanning period seven decades. Comparing with ideas found modern physics literature, we conclude that none existing systems QFT axioms can cover all physical situations. Therefore, it is still an outstanding open problem to formulate complete definition QFT. We argue question relevance for both physicists mathematicians.

Probing TeV Left-Right Seesaw at Energy and Intensity Frontiers: a Snowmass White Paper

We discuss ways to probe the origin of neutrino masses at the Energy and Intensity frontiers, in TeV-scale Left-Right seesaw models where small neutrino masses arise via type-I seesaw mechanism. We consider generic (‘vanilla’) version of such models as well as a version which leads to ‘large’ lightheavy neutrino mixing while keeping the neutrino masses small in a natural manner. We point out sp...

The Healthgrid White Paper

Over the last four years, a community of researchers working on Grid and High Performance Computing technologies started discussing the barriers and opportunities that grid technologies must face and exploit for the development of health-related applications. This interest lead to the first Healthgrid conference, held in Lyon, France, on January 16th-17th, 2003, with the focus of creating incre...

The CoMo White Paper

CoMo (Continuous Monitoring) is a passive monitoring system. CoMo has been designed to be the basic building block of an open network monitoring infrastructure that would allow researchers and network operators to easily process and share network traffic statistics over multiple sites. This paper identifies the challenges that lie ahead in the deployment of such an open infrastructure. These ma...

How to define ‘Moral Realism’

Moral realism is the doctrine that some propositions asserting that some action is ‘morally’ good (obligatory, bad, or wrong) are true. This paper examines three different definitions of what it is for an action to be ‘morally’ good (with corresponding definitions for ‘morally’ obligatory, bad, or wrong) which would make moral realism a clear and plausible view. The first defines ‘morally good ...
