Solving Facility Layout Problem with safety consideration of Reconfigurable Manufacturing and Assembly Systems

Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (RMS) are designed to cope with mass customization problem. Assembly (RAS) a variant of this RMS concept in the assembly field. One most crucial issues designing RAS is layout problem human safety considerations. This paper’s main motivation propose methodology determine efficient and safe arrangement facilities workshop. The objective twofold: (i) minimize Material Handling Cost (ii) ensure by applying "safety bubble". An implementation approach an illustrative case study presented.
