Solving the inverse Ising problem by mean-field methods in a clustered phase space with many states.
In this work we explain how to properly use mean-field methods to solve the inverse Ising problem when the phase space is clustered, that is, many states are present. The clustering of the phase space can occur for many reasons, e.g., when a system undergoes a phase transition, but also when data are collected in different regimes (e.g., quiescent and spiking regimes in neural networks). Mean-f...

The large amounts of data from molecular biology and neuroscience have lead to a renewed interest in the inverse Ising problem: how to reconstruct parameters of the Ising model (couplings between spins and external fields) from a number of spin configurations sampled from the Boltzmann measure. To invert the relationship between model parameters and observables (magnetizations and correlations)...
متن کاملMetastable states in disordered Ising magnets in mean-field approximation
The mechanism of appearance of exponentially large number of metastable states in magnetic phases of disordered Ising magnets with short-range random exchange is suggested. It is based on the assumption that transitions into inhomogeneous magnetic phases results from the condensation of macroscopically large number of sparse delocalized modes near the localization threshold. The properties of m...
متن کاملTwo-particle resonant states in a many-body mean field.
A formalism to evaluate the resonant states produced by two particles moving outside a closed shell core is presented. It is found that long lived two-body states (including bound states) are mostly determined by either bound single-particle states or by narrow single-particle resonances. However, they can be significantly affected by the continuum part of the spectrum.
