چکیده
Abstract Aims The Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy (JAG) has set key quality indicators for colonoscopy, which includes an adenoma detection rate of a minimum 15%. Given the difficulty in reporting rate, JAG have stated that polyp is accepted as surrogate measure. Our aim was to assess whether can be used substitute marker detection, by examining histology samples taken polyps determine what proportion are truly adenomas. Methods pathology department provided registry all histological from colon or rectum during one-year period April 2017 2018. These were cross-referenced with endoscopy report identified “polyps” performing endoscopist. then reviewed conclusion each “polyp”. Results A total 1601 colorectal reviewed, 32 different endoscopists. 451 these On review 153 (33.9%) not adenomas rectum. Common alternative diagnoses hyperplastic polyp, inflammatory and normal tissue. Rarer melanosis coli, submucosal leiomyoma endometriosis Conclusions Polyp inaccurate measure colonoscopy quality.

background: the incidence of colorectal cancer is rising in several developing countries. in the absence of integrated endoscopy and pathology databases, adenoma detection rate (adr), as a validated quality indicator of screening colonoscopy, is generally difficult to obtain in practice. we aimed to measure the correlation of polyp-related indicators with adr in order to identify the most accur...
متن کاملAdenoma and Polyp Detection Rates in Colonoscopy according to Indication
Background Adenoma detection rate (ADR) is a validated quality measure for screening colonoscopy, but there are little data for other indications. The distribution of adenomas is not well described for these indications. Aim To describe ADR and the adenoma distribution in the proximal and distal colon based on colonoscopy indication. Methods Outpatient colonoscopies are subdivided by indica...
