Space-Aware Reconfiguration

چکیده

We consider the problem of reconfiguring a set physical objects into desired target configuration, typical (sub)task in robotics and automation, arising product assembly, packaging, stocking store shelves, more. In this paper we address variant, which call space-aware reconfiguration, where goal is to minimize space needed for while obeying constraints on allowable collision-free motions objects. Since given start configurations, reconfiguration may be impossible, translate entire configuration rigidly location that admits valid sequence moves, each object moves turn just once, along straight line, from its starting location, so overall required by start, all intermediate, configurations minimized. investigate two variants often examined setting $n$ unit discs plane, depending whether are distinguishable (labeled) or indistinguishable (unlabeled). For labeled case, propose representation size $O(n^4)$ feasible initial rigid translations, use it find, $O(n^6)$ time, shortest translation, one minimizes enclosing disc axis-aligned rectangle both configurations. significantly harder unlabeled show almost every direction, there exists translation direction makes feasible. devise heuristic solutions, optimize under stricter notions feasibility. present an implementation such heuristic, solves instances with hundreds seconds.

Reconfiguration Time Aware Processing on FPGAs

Considering nowadays FPGAs, the reconfiguration time is a non-negligible element of reconfigurable computation. Moreover, run-time environments that ignore the reconfiguration time can quickly lack applicability. Thus, methods to respect this additional time are required. Looking for suitable analogies in already evaluated fields seems to be reasonable and shall be investigated in this work. In...

PARSY: Performance Aware Reconfiguration of Software Systems

Dynamic reconfiguration of component-based systems is recognized as a viable way to meet quality requirements in a mutable operating environment. In this paper we consider the problem of maintaining the overall response time of a component-based system below a given threshold, as the system is subject to variable workload. We assume that the system components can be dynamically reconfigured to ...

Maintaining Terminal Integrity and Context-Aware Reconfiguration

There is a need for terminal management mechanisms for high volume embedded devices. Current technology provides mechanisms for adaptation of software on embedded devices during their deployment. These mechanisms give the opportunity to adapt a device to the wishes of the consumer at a specific location or time. While being useful to the user, these mechanisms might also jeopardize the software...

Performance Aware Reconfiguration of Software Systems

In this paper we address the problem of building a scalable component-based system by means of dynamic reconfiguration. Specifically, we consider the system response time as the performance metric; we assume that the system components can be dynamically reconfigured to provide a degraded service with lower response time. Each component operating at one of the available quality levels is assigne...

Context Aware Reconfiguration in Software Product Lines

Software Product Lines (SPLs) are a mechanism for largescale reuse where families of related software systems are represented in terms of commonalities and variabilities, e.g., using Feature Models (FMs). While FMs define all possible configurations of the SPL, when considering dynamic SPLs not every possible configuration may be valid in all possible contexts. Unfortunately, common FMs can not...
