Spatial Channel Degrees of Freedom for Optimum Antenna Arrays

One of the ultimate goals future wireless networks is to maximize data rates accommodate bandwidth-hungry services and applications. Thus, extracting maximum amount information bits for given spatial constraints when designing systems will be great importance. In this paper, we present antenna array topologies that communication channel capacity number elements while occupying minimum space. Capacity maximized via development an advanced particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm devising optimum standardized arbitrarily-shaped topologies. Number occupied space are informed by novel heuristic degrees freedom (SDoF) formulations which rigorously generalize existing SDoF formulas. Our generalized rely on differential entropy three-dimensional (3D) angle arrival (AOA) distributions can associate any AOA distribution. The proposed analysis departs from closed-form correlation functions (SCFs) arbitrarily-positioned all classes 3D multipath propagation channels, namely, isotropic, omnidirectional, directional. Extensive simulation runs comparisons with trivial solutions verify correctness our resulting in performance occupancy.
