Spatial patterns and biodiversity in rock-paper-scissors models with regional unevenness

چکیده

Climate changes may affect ecosystems destabilising relationships among species. We investigate the spatial rock-paper-scissors models with a regional unevenness that reduces selection capacity of organisms one Our results show regionally weak species predominates in local ecosystem, while spiral patterns appear far from region, where individuals every play game same strength. Because controls all territory, it is attractive for other to enter ecosystem conquer territory. However, our stochastic simulations transitory waves formed when strong reach region are quickly destroyed because strength unbalance rules. Computing effect topology on population dynamics, we find prevalence becomes more significant if transition area uneven rules smooth. Finally, findings biodiversity loss due arising minimised cyclic unbalanced abrupt. be helpful biologists comprehending consequences environmental conditions coexistence and complex systems.

Spatial rock-paper-scissors models with inhomogeneous reaction rates.

We study several variants of the stochastic four-state rock-paper-scissors game or, equivalently, cyclic three-species predator-prey models with conserved total particle density, by means of Monte Carlo simulations on one- and two-dimensional lattices. Specifically, we investigate the influence of spatial variability of the reaction rates and site occupancy restrictions on the transient oscilla...

Characterization of spiraling patterns in spatial rock-paper-scissors games.

The spatiotemporal arrangement of interacting populations often influences the maintenance of species diversity and is a subject of intense research. Here, we study the spatiotemporal patterns arising from the cyclic competition between three species in two dimensions. Inspired by recent experiments, we consider a generic metapopulation model comprising "rock-paper-scissors" interactions via do...

Interfaces with internal structures in generalized rock-paper-scissors models.

In this work we investigate the development of stable dynamical structures along interfaces separating domains belonging to enemy partnerships in the context of cyclic predator-prey models with an even number of species N≥8. We use both stochastic and field theory simulations in one and two spatial dimensions, as well as analytical arguments, to describe the association at the interfaces of mut...
