Spatial Variations of Antarctic Intermediate Water in the Caribbean Sea Due To Vertical Mixing Along Its Path

چکیده
Because of its pronounced fresh signature, the properties northward-flowing Antarctic Intermediate Water (AAIW) affect Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. Hence, understanding modifications AAIW along path is important. Here, we analyze changes in Caribbean Sea and assess whether vertical fluxes from background turbulence double-diffusive mixing thermohaline staircases can explain these variations. We deduce occurrence rate (7%) estimate flux ratio Argo float profiles. In combination with turbulence, values are used a steady-state advection-diffusion model to effective diffusivity salt that arises double diffusion . This value for similar observed (Schmitt, 2005, https://doi.org/10.1126/science.1108678), implying modification may be attributable primarily region itself.

Sea Surface Temperature Variability along the Path of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current
The spatial and temporal distributions of sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies in the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) are investigated, using monthly data from the NCEP–NCAR reanalysis for the period 1980–2004. Patterns of atmospheric forcing are identified in observations of sea level pressure and air–sea heat fluxes. It is found that a significant fraction of SST variability in the ACC...
متن کاملSensitivity of the Atlantic thermohaline circulation and its stability to basin-scale variations in vertical mixing
We show that a reduction in vertical mixing applied inside the Atlantic basin can drastically increase North Antlantic Deep Water (NADW) stability with respect to fresh water perturbations applied to the North Atlantic. This is contrary to the notion that the stability of the ocean’s thermohaline circulation simply scales with vertical mixing rates. An Antarctic Intermediate Water (AAIW) revers...

chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...
