Special needs educators’ roles and work in relation to recently arrived immigrant pupils in need of special educational support

Migration to Europe in recent years has made the issue of educational support for recently arrived immigrant pupils critically important, and, especially who are need special support. Schools Sweden have needs educators (SNEs) supporting education, but little is known about work SNEs regard immigrants. This article reports results 483 answering a survey on their views role and tasks relation Swedish compulsory schools. report that actual include compiling individual plans (IEPs), developing learning environments, supervising staff. Less than 50% participants responded they directly with pupils, around 19% wanted do more such work. Class subject teachers mother tongue tutors occupational groups seen as providing most pupils.
