Spin-dependent phenomena at chiral temporal interfaces

چکیده

Abstract Temporally varying electromagnetic media have been extensively investigated recently to unveil new means for controlling light. However, spin-dependent phenomena in such not explored thoroughly. Here, we reveal the existence of at a temporal interface between chiral and dielectric media. In particular, show theoretically numerically that due material discontinuity time, linearly polarized light is split into forward-propagating right-handed left-handed circularly waves having different angular frequencies same phase velocities . This salient effect allows complete separation two spin states with high efficiency. addition, phenomenon gain/loss observed. Furthermore, when medium switched back original medium, right- (with frequencies) merge form wave. Our findings extend interactions from space space-time.

Emergent phenomena at oxide interfaces.

Recent technical advances in the atomic-scale synthesis of oxide heterostructures have provided a fertile new ground for creating novel states at their interfaces. Different symmetry constraints can be used to design structures exhibiting phenomena not found in the bulk constituents. A characteristic feature is the reconstruction of the charge, spin and orbital states at interfaces on the nanom...

Atomic-scale compensation phenomena at polar interfaces.

The interfacial screening charge that arises to compensate electric fields of dielectric or ferroelectric thin films is now recognized as the most important factor in determining the capacitance or polarization of ultrathin ferroelectrics. Here we investigate using aberration-corrected electron microscopy and density-functional theory to show how interfaces cope with the need to terminate ferro...

Adsorption phenomena at organic-inorganic interfaces

The qualitative solventand temperature-dependent conformational behavior of a peptide in the proximity of solid substrates with different adsorption properties is investigated by means of a simple lattice model. The resulting pseudophase diagrams exhibit a complex structure, which can be understood by analysing the minima of the free-energy landscape in dependence of appropriate system parameters.

Spin-dependent transparency of ferromagnet/superconductor interfaces.

We combine parameter-free calculations of the transmission and reflection matrices for clean and dirty interfaces with a scattering-theory formulation of Andreev reflection (AR) generalized to spin-polarized systems in order to critically evaluate the use of an extended Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk (BTK) model to extract values of the spin polarization for ferromagnetic metals from measurements of ...

Critical Phenomena at Interfaces Phase Transitions at Quantum Surfaces

Tlre qnantum systems helium and hydrogen provide a versatile testing ground for studying interfacial phenomena. As examples, both some properties of surface< near thermodynamic equilibrium, like layering and wetting, and uonequilibrium states of qucnch-condensed disordered films are discussed. A further topic is the development of macroscopic instabilities of interfaces under external perturbat...
