Spinodal decomposition during the hadronization stage at RHIC?
The expansion of strongly interacting matter formed in high-energy nuclear collisions drives the system through the region of phase coexistence. The present study examines the associated spinodal instability and finds that the degree of amplification may be sufficient for the emergence of spinodal patterns that may be utilized as a diagnostic of the hadronization phase transition.
متن کاملDynamics and hadronization at intermediate transverse momentum at RHIC
The ultra-relativistic heavy-ion program at RHIC has shown that at intermediate transverse momenta (pT ≃ 2-6 GeV) standard (independent) parton fragmentation can neither describe the observed baryon-to-meson ratios nor the empirical scaling of the hadronic elliptic flow (v2) according to the number of valence quarks. Both aspects find instead a natural explanation in a coalescence plus fragment...
متن کاملStatistical hadronization of charm at SPS, RHIC and LHC
We study the production of charmonia and charmed hadrons for nucleus-nucleus collisions at SPS, RHIC, and LHC energies within the framework of the statistical hadronization model. Results from this model are compared to the observed centrality dependence of J/ψ production at SPS energy. We further provide predictions for the centrality dependence of the production of open and hidden charm meson...
متن کاملStatistical hadronization of charmed quarks at SPS and RHIC
Production of open and hidden charm hadrons in heavy ion collisions is considered within the statistical coalescence model. The charmed quark-antiquark pairs are assumed to be created at the initial stage of the reaction in hard parton collisions. The number of these pairs is conserved during the evolution of the system. At the hadronization stage, the charmed (anti)quarks are distributed among...
متن کاملEvolution of speckle during spinodal decomposition.
Time-dependent properties of the speckled intensity patterns created by scattering coherent radiation from materials undergoing spinodal decomposition are investigated by numerical integration of the Cahn-Hilliard-Cook equation. For binary systems which obey a local conservation law, the characteristic domain size is known to grow in time tau as R=[Btau](n) with n=1/3, where B is a constant. Th...
