Spontaneous Regression of a Poorly Differentiated Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Case Report

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common histological type of primary liver cancer, and spontaneous regression HCC rare. We report case a 76-year-old male diagnosed with poorly differentiated that spontaneously regressed. Although patient did not undergo any treatment or invasive diagnostic tests, such as angiography, before surgery, resected tumor showed complete necrosis similar to seen after transcatheter arterial embolization. The main cause in present was thought be occlusion nutrient vessels hypoxia. Tumor hypoxia immunological reactions are reported causes regression, although underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this report, we provide additional insights into phenomenon.
