Stability Boundaries of Wide-Input-Range COT Buck Converters with Ripple Compensation

In this paper, we focus on instability issues of a wide-input-range Constant ON-Time buck converter. A transconductance stage in the control path that implements ripple compensation characterizes architecture switching circuit. On whole, decision rules, heavily influence stability, govern dynamical evolution We show onset sub-harmonic oscillations and pulse-bursting caused by presence hysteresis regulation comparator. Operational boundaries are provided both analytical numerical form. They easily support designer choosing converter parameter values. Theoretical results verified against SIMetrix/SIMPLIS MPLAB® Mindi™ simulations for case study involving commercial adjustable-frequency, synchronous regulator featuring an adaptive ON-time architecture. good agreement is obtained, as shown.
