Standing Vegetation Exceeds Soil Microbial Communities in Soil Type Indication: A Procrustes Test of Four Salt-Affected Pastures

چکیده

Organisms with different life histories are able to act as indicators of characteristics their environment. Here, we compared the precision habitat indication by vegetation and soil microbial communities in four salt-affected pastures: annual open salt sward, Pannonic Puccinellia limosa hollow, Artemisia saline puszta grassy puszta. Dissimilarity habitats was evaluated standardized principal component analysis (PCA) based on datasets: catabolic profiles June (a) September (b), composition vascular (c) physical chemical properties (d). Procrustes used quantify resemblance between pairs PCA ordinations (d) various biotic (a, b, c). ordination most closely matched data-based ordination, thus appears better indicate conditions than do. For communities, a agreement reached June. Most probably, long-lived sedentary habit perennial plants these requires adaptation long-term average conditions. In contrast, short-lived microbes can quickly follow environmental changes, reflect actual

Soil microbial communities are shaped by vegetation type and park age in cities under cold climate.

Soil microbes play a key role in controlling ecosystem functions and providing ecosystem services. Yet, microbial communities in urban green space soils remain poorly characterized. Here we compared soil microbial communities in 41 urban parks of (i) divergent plant functional types (evergreen trees, deciduous trees and lawn) and (ii) different ages (constructed 10, ∼50 and >100 years ago). The...

Impact of fumigants on soil microbial communities.

Agricultural soils are typically fumigated to provide effective control of nematodes, soilborne pathogens, and weeds in preparation for planting of high-value cash crops. The ability of soil microbial communities to recover after treatment with fumigants was examined using culture-dependent (Biolog) and culture-independent (phospholipid fatty acid [PLFA] analysis and denaturing gradient gel ele...

Understory vegetation leads to changes in soil acidity and in microbial communities 27 years after reforestation.

Experiments with potted plants and removed understories have indicated that understory vegetation often affects the chemical and microbial properties of soil. In this study, we examined the mechanism and extent of the influence of understory vegetation on the chemical and microbial properties of soil in plantation forests. The relationships between the vegetational structure (diversity for diff...

Can Transgenic Maize Affect Soil Microbial Communities?

The aim of the experiment was to determine if temporal variations of belowground activity reflect the influence of the Cry1Ab protein from transgenic maize on soil bacteria and, hence, on a regulatory change of the microbial community (ability to metabolize sources belonging to different chemical guilds) and/or a change in numerical abundance of their cells. Litter placement is known for its st...
