Strength Development and Environmental Assessment of Full Tailings Filling Materials with Various Water-to-Binder Ratios

In order to build green mines, goaf is often filled, supported, and sealed with a high-water material eliminate series of environmental problems safety hazards caused by goaf. this study, ordinary Portland cement, sulphoaluminate alkali-activated cement were used as binders prepare full-tailings materials for filling, various water-to-cement ratios. The compressive strength development consolidated tungsten tailings specimens prepared curing was observed, the influence water–cement ratios on analyzed. impact mine backfill assessed according life cycle theory (LCA), these using binders. results show that when water-to-binder ratio 3, can reach 3 MPa at 28 days; ratio, microstructure more compact. Through LCA analysis, load shown be significantly lower than either or cement; primary energy consumption reduced from cements 1319.32 MJ 945 kg, respectively. These unusual reduction percentages are achieved because production does not have any negative impact—the its component being industrial byproduct slag, so use in tailings’ consolidation has positive impact.
