Strictly Dominated Strategies in the Replicator-Mutator Dynamics
The replicator-mutator dynamics is a set of differential equations frequently used in biological and socioeconomic contexts to model evolutionary processes subject to mutation, error or experimentation. The replicator-mutator dynamics generalizes the widely used replicator dynamics, which appears in this framework as the extreme case where replication is perfectly precise. This paper studies th...
متن کاملA probabilistic interpretation of replicator-mutator dynamics
In this note, we investigate the relationship between probabilistic updating mechanisms and discrete-time replicator-mutator dynamics. We consider the recently shown connection between Bayesian updating and replicator dynamics and extend it to the replicator-mutator dynamics by considering prediction and filtering recursions in hidden Markov models (HMM). We show that it is possible to understa...
متن کاملReplicator-mutator equation, universality property and population dynamics of learning.
Replicator-mutator equation is used to describe the dynamics of complex adaptive systems in population genetics, biochemistry and models of language learning. We study "localized", or "coherent", solutions, which are especially relevant in the context of learning and correspond to the existence of a predominant language in the population. There is a coherence threshold for learning fidelity, ab...
متن کاملReplicator Dynamics in Protocells
Replicator equations have been studied for three decades as a generic dynamical system modelling replication processes. Here we show how they arise naturally in models of self-replicating polymers and discuss some of their basic properties. We then concentrate on a minimal dynamic model of a protocell by coupling replicating polymers with a growing membrane.
متن کاملSurvival of Dominated Strategies under Evolutionary Dynamics∗
We prove that any deterministic evolutionary dynamic satisfying four mild requirements does not eliminate strictly dominated strategies in some games. We also show that existing elimination results for evolutionary dynamics are not robust to small changes in the specifications of the dynamics. Numerical analysis reveals that dominated strategies can persist at nontrivial frequencies even when t...
