Structural and spectral properties of Galactic plane variable radio sources

چکیده

In the time domain, radio sky in particular along Galactic plane direction may vary significantly because of various energetic activities associated with stars, stellar and supermassive black holes. Using multi-epoch Very Large Array surveys at 5.0 GHz, Becker et al. (2010) presented a catalogue 39 variable sources flux density range 1-70 mJy. To probe their structures spectra, we observed 17 very-long-baseline interferometric (VLBI) imaging technique collected additional multi-frequency data from literature. We detected all 5 GHz Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope, but only G23.6644-0.0372 European VLBI Network (EVN). Together its decadal variability spectrum, interpret it as an extragalactic peaked-spectrum source size <~10 pc. The remaining were resolved out by long baselines EVN either strong scatter broadening latitude <1 deg or intrinsically very extended on centi-arcsec scales. According to spectral structural properties, find that sample has diverse nature. notice two young H II regions spot star candidate planetary nebula. rest are likely active galactic nuclei (AGN). Two them also displays arcsec-scale faint jet activity. study indicates AGN commonplace even among plane.

New Catalogs of Compact Radio Sources in the Galactic Plane

Archival data have been combined with recent observations of the Galactic Plane using the Very Large Array to create new catalogs of compact centimetric radio sources. The 20 cm source catalog covers a longitude range of −20 < l < 120; the latitude coverage varies from ±0. 8 to ±2. 7. The total survey area is ∼ 330 deg; coverage is 90% complete at a flux density threshold of ∼ 13 mJy, and over ...

Variable Unidentified Gamma-ray Sources near the Galactic Plane

In a recent paper, Romero et al. (1999) have presented the results of a positional correlation analysis of the low-latitude unidentified gamma-ray sources in the Third EGRET catalog with complete lists of galactic objects like supernova remnants, early type stars with strong stellar winds, and OB associations (considered as pulsar tracers). We have now carried out a study of those 42 sources at...

Optical Properties of faint FIRST Variable Radio Sources

A sample of 123 radio sources that exhibit significant variations at 1.4 GHz on a seven year base-line has been created using FIRST VLA B-array data from 1995 and 2002 on a strip at δ = 0 near the south Galactic cap. This sample spans the range of radio flux densities from ∼ 2 to 1000 mJy. It presents both in size and radio flux density range a unique starting point for variability studies of g...

Radio Pulses along the Galactic Plane

We have surveyed 68 deg 2 along the Galactic Plane for single, dispersed radio pulses. Each of 3027 independent pointings was observed for 67 s using the Arecibo telescope at 430 MHz. Spectra were collected at intervals of 0.5 ms and examined for pulses with duration 0.5 to 8 ms. Such single pulse analysis is the most sensitive method of detecting highly scattered or highly dispersed signals fr...

Distance Determination of Variable Galactic Sources

We have developed a timing analysis method to determine the distances of variable galactic X-ray sources based on the method advanced by Trümper and Schönfelder in 1973. The light-curve of the halo produced by the scattering of X-rays off the interstellar dust is delayed and smeared by the dust grains. This method utilizes the differences between the power density spectra of the point source an...
