چکیده
The present study proposes a comprehensive integrity assessment approach for full-scale adhesively-bonded bi-material joint maritime applications. represents cross-section of the bond-line connection ship with steel hull and sandwich composite superstructure. consists core adhesively bonded to two U-shaped brackets. was subjected quasi-static loading profile including 6 load cycles up final failure. Each cycle followed by dwell segment holding at maximum displacement 30 s then unloading 50% displacement. Three Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) techniques Acoustic Emission (AE), Fiber Optic Sensor (FOS), Digital Image Correlation (DIC) were employed during test assess damage state joint. Moreover, Finite Element Model (FEM) developed simulate evolution behavior different mechanisms in FE results compared against experimental findings. obtained showed that integration all could successfully detect initiation, severity damage, localize critical regions joint, distinguish mechanisms.

Failure Mechanisms of Adhesively Bonded Aluminium for Spacecraft Applications
The surface characteristics of an aluminium alloy treated with a commercial chromate pretreatment have been studied by SAM, EDX and XPS. XPS indicates that the chromium is present in the conversion coating as both Cr(III) and Cr(VI) species, and that other components are present at the conversion coating surface, some in a reduced form. The deposition of the chromate layer is compromised by the...

Article history: Received: 03.10.2014. Received in revised form: 19.12.2014. Accepted: 30.12.2014. In this work, the effect of adherend shape on the tensile strength of adhesively bonded single lap aluminum structures joint was numerically studied using three dimensional finite element models. Six joint models were investigated. In this paper, a static finite element analysis was performed in A...
متن کاملAnalytical model of asymmetrical Mixed-Mode Bending test of adhesively bonded GFRP joint
This paper presents new analytical model of asymmetric mixed-mode bending (MMB) specimen of adhesively bonded pultruded GFRP joints. An easily applicable relationship for the calculation of the strain energy release rate of the asymmetric MMB specimens is proposed based on the beam theory. The model is capable to analyze stacking sequence as well as various crack propagation paths. In the paper...
متن کاملComputational Models of Adhesively Bonded Joints
Simulations using the Finite Element Method (FEM) play an increasingly important role in the design process of joints and fasteners in the aerospace industry. In order to utilize the potential of such adhesive bonding, there is an increasing need for effective and accurate computational methods. The geometry and the nature of an adhesive joint are, however, not so simple to describe effectively...
