Structure shape measurement method based on an optical fiber shape sensor

Abstract In industry and architecture, real-time complete measurement of structures has become a research frontier since it is directly related to the safety life property. Optical fibers have potential monitor constructions due advantages such as small size, anti-electromagnetic interference, etc. However, existing on optical fiber sensors pays attention sensing itself ignores layout fibers. As result, currently available are only suitable for monitoring one-dimensional rigid surgical robots puncture needles. They may face challenges when measuring freeform surfaces encountered in industrial architectural scenarios. this paper, cross-orthogonal method based shape proposed meet requirements surfaces. The network allows global performs surface reconstructions more easily compared single-fiber arrays. It also divides into several segments that reconstructed separately (with different initial frames), avoiding cumulative error at end fiber. Results verification experiments using four-core indicate presented can improve accuracy.
