Study of Heavy Metals Pollution and Vitellogenin Levels in Brown Trout (Salmo trutta trutta) Wild Fish Populations

نویسندگان

چکیده

The objectives of this research were, first, to determine the concentrations certain heavy metals in edible tissue wild brown trout (Salmo trutta trutta) from two different rivers located Abruzzi region (Italy), and then, investigate levels variation vitellogenin (VTG) associated with presence metalloestrogens. VTG is an effective indicator for endocrine disturbance, increase male fish widely employed as a biomarker estrogenic contamination aquatic environment. muscles were analyzed As, Cd, Co, Cr, Ni, Pb, Al, Zn using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer (ICP-MS), Hg was measured direct mercury analyzer (DMA-80). calculated values condition factor confirmed healthy status species, indicating that habit both suitable life. No significant difference each metal reported between rivers, no found female fish. It interesting note high Al/Zn, while all samples lower than those established by European Commission.

Morphological differences in the skin of marble trout Salmo marmoratus and of brown trout Salmo trutta.

Despite being genetically very closely related, the marble trout Salmo marmoratus and the brown trout Salmo trutta exhibit marked phenotypic differences, particularly with regard to skin pigmentation. Histological analysis of skin from the head and gill cover of differently aged individuals of the two species was carried out in order to characterize differences in skin structure. The basic stru...

Prevalence of serum antibodies against Saprolegnia parasitica in wild and farmed brown trout Salmo trutta.

The prevalence of serum antibodies against Saprolegnia parasitica in wild and farmed brown trout Salmo trutta from the province of Le6n (NW Spain) was studied by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Blood samples from healthy and Saprolegnia-infected brown trout were collected over 2 yr with a seasonal periodicity (January, April, July and October) from a hatchery and river with frequent ...

Severe helminthic infection of the wild brown trout (Salmo trutta) in Cetina River, Croatia; Preliminary observation

Elevated mortalities of brown trout (Salmo trutta m. fario) and grayling (Thymallus thymallus) were noticed in the Cetina River at the end of the February. Local anglers collected the samples of moribund fish and submitted them to the laboratory for examination. Ectoparasitological, bacteriological and virological examination did not reveal any ectoparasite, bacteria or viral agents, however py...

Lack of trophic polymorphism despite substantial genetic differentiation in sympatric brown trout (Salmo trutta) populations

Sympatric populations occur in many freshwater fish species; such populations are typically detected through morphological distinctions that are often coupled to food niche and genetic separations. In salmonids, trophic and genetically separate sympatric populations have been reported in landlocked Arctic char, whitefish and brown trout. In Arctic char and brown trout rare cases of sympatric, g...

Invasion Dynamics of a Fish-Free Landscape by Brown Trout (Salmo trutta)

Metapopulation dynamics over the course of an invasion are usually difficult to grasp because they require large and reliable data collection, often unavailable. The invasion of the fish-free freshwater ecosystems of the remote sub-Antarctic Kerguelen Islands following man-made introductions of brown trout (Salmo trutta) in the 1950's is an exception to this rule. Benefiting from a full long te...
