Study of Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Ball milled Nano-SiC Reinforced Aluminium Matrix Composites

The nano-sized particle-reinforced metal matrix composites are the new potential material which could be applied in many industry fields, possess superior strength, ductility, and wear resistance comparison with micro-sized composites. However, fabrication methods of nanoparticles complex expensive. In present research, micron size SiC particles milled for 45-hours wet milling arrangement a planetary type ball mill powder has been analysed DLS-Particle analysis, SEM TEM analysis. Synthesized nano-SiC dispersed an aluminium alloy by modified stir casting technique. Microstructure developed nanocomposites studied under FESEM study mmechanical properties reveal that presence improved significantly strength hardness.
