Subjective Quality Evaluation of Alternative Imaging Techniques for Microfiche Digitization

Before the advent of digital formats, microfiche, a type microform, was widely utilized for archiving and preserving historical documents. As result, numerous collections documents can only be found in microfiche format, transforming them into valuable artifacts indispensable aspects our cultural heritage. Although last long time, it is still susceptible to damage requires digitization preservation broader accessibility. In addition, traditional readers are not always available primarily designed reading rather than digitization. this study, we evaluated performance two alternative imaging devices compared reader impact enhancement on image quality using subjective assessment. The experiments were carried out controlled environment with twenty-one participants, including an expert. Our results showed that reproduction preferred over reader. Furthermore, demonstrate techniques significantly improved quality. This study suggests may viable option digitizing improving access collections.
