Sulfur promoted n-π* electron transitions in thiophene-doped g-C3N4 for enhanced photocatalytic activity

Expanding the optical absorption range of photocatalysts is still a key endeavor in graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) studies. Here, we report on novel thiophene group extending property, which assigned to n-π* electronic transitions involving two lone pairs sulfur (TLPS). The as-prepared samples, denoted as CN-ThAx (where x indicates amount ThA added, mg), showed an additional above 500 nm compared pristine g-C3N4. Further, enhanced charge carrier separation suppress e−/h+ pair recombination. experimental results suggest that can obstruct polymerization melem generate large plane, thus exposing electron sulfur. photocatalytic activity was evaluated decomposition bisphenol A and H2 evolution. Compared with g-C3N4, optimized CN-ThA30 sample led 6.6- 2-fold enhancement degradation generation rates, respectively. allowed for synchronous production BPA decomposition.
