High superconducting transition temperatures of new rare earth ternary borides.
A new group of ternary borides has been found that show either ferromagnetism or superconductivity. Their general formula is MRh(4)B(4) where M is a transition or rare-earth element. Their superconducting transition temperatures range from approximately 2.5 K for the Sm compound to approximately 12 K for the Lu compound.
متن کاملSuperconducting transition temperatures of the elements related to elastic constants
For a given crystal structure, say body-centred-cubic, the many-body Hamiltonian H in which nuclear and electron motions are to be treated from the outset on the same footing, has parameters, for the elements, which can be classified as (i) atomic mass M , (ii) atomic number Z, characterizing the external potential in which electrons move, and (iii) bcc lattice spacing, or equivalently one can ...
متن کاملMeasurement of Superconducting Transition Curves of Lead during Plastic Deformation
The plastic enhancement effect is used as a new method for studying the transition curves of plastically deformed superconductors. Strainand temperature dependent field penetration below Hc is obser6ed. The phenomenon of enhanced plasticity in superconductors has been studied intensively in the last years /I/. In all experimental investigations of this effect the sample must be deformed alterna...
متن کاملExactly solvable model of superconducting magnetic alloys
A model describing the Anderson impurity in the Bardeen-Cooper-Schriffer superconductor is proven to exhibit hidden integrability and is diagonalized exactly by the Bethe ansatz. Typeset using REVTEX 1 The basic theoretical models describing magnetic impurities in nonmagnetic normal metals, such as the s-d (Kondo) model, the Anderson model, etc., are integrable under two additional conditions [...
متن کاملThe correlation of lattice phonon frequencies with the superconducting transition temperatures of some (BEDT-TTF) salts
The far-infrared powder absorption spectra, between 10 cm-’ and 350 cm-‘, of seven BEDT-TTF salts that exhibit superconductivity at or near ambient pressure, have been measured as a function of temperature, between 5 K and 300 K. The temperature dependences of the peak frequencies, along with the measured deuterium isotopic frequency shifts, separated the lattice from the internal modes. The fr...
