Sustainable Potato Growth under Straw Mulching Practices

نویسندگان

چکیده

Extreme heat, droughts, pests, diseases, and short bursts of heavy rain make potato production unsustainable. This unfavorable environment negatively affects productivity yield levels. Within the next few years, conditions will likely deteriorate even more. In cultivation, straw mulching has been shown to increase yields by promoting growth beneficial bacteria in soil. Mulching improves soil humidity, decreases transpiration, cools dry hot regions. There is a global decline per hectare due poor nutrient management, moderately humid high disease pressure caused Phytophthora infestans Alternaria species. Farmers must take cultivation measures achieve economic efficiency adequate yields. A range practices contributes better productivity, such as use appropriate fungicides, planting high-yielding varieties, increasing row spacing. These complicate affect profits. Furthermore, inorganic nitrogen regularly causes acidification, eroding fertility. As result land preparation, residues from rice maize are collected field destroyed or burned, which depletes nutrients pollutes air. Returning these soil, however, can improve its quality. Integrating into enhance agricultural sustainability, yield. review focus on using cultivating potatoes. Straw promotes sustainable growth, quality while minimizing reliance chemical inputs. Such mitigate need for synthetic fertilizers agriculture, ensure long-term health, yields, promote agriculture.

Soil Salt Distribution and Tomato Response to Saline Water Irrigation under Straw Mulching

To investigate better saline water irrigation scheme for tomatoes that scheduling with the compromise among yield (Yt), quality, irrigation water use efficiency (IWUE) and soil salt residual, an experiment with three irrigation quotas and three salinities of irrigation water was conducted under straw mulching in northern China. The irrigation quota levels were 280 mm (W1), 320 mm (W2) and 360 m...

Effects of Mulching Tolerant Plant Straw on Soil Surface on Growth and Cadmium Accumulation of Galinsoga parviflora

Pot and field experiments were conducted to study the effects of mulching with straw of cadmium (Cd) tolerant plants (Ranunculus sieboldii, Mazus japonicus, Clinopodium confine and Plantago asiatica) on growth and Cd accumulation of Galinsoga parviflora in Cd-contaminated soil. In the pot experiment, mulching with M. japonicus straw increased the root biomass, stem biomass, leaf biomass, shoot ...

Straw Mulching Reduces the Harmful Effects of Extreme Hydrological and Temperature Conditions in Citrus Orchards

Extreme weather conditions with negative impacts can strongly affect agricultural production. In the Danjiangkou reservoir area, citrus yields were greatly influenced by cold weather conditions and drought stress in 2011. Soil straw mulching (SM) practices have a major effect on soil water and thermal regimes. A two-year field experiment was conducted to evaluate whether the SM practices can he...

Integrated Weed Management in Potato Using Straw Mulch and Atrazine

Potato (Solanum tuberosum) is one of fourmajor food crops in the world. Weed control is a major component in potato production and has been accomplished using different methods, including but not limited to the use of herbicides and straw mulch. A combination of preemergence herbicide and straw mulch may improve weed control; however, no information is available for combining both methods, alon...
