Abstract Recently, though graphene oxide (GO) has shown promising applications in many fields, there have not been studies focusing on exploiting the source of synthetic precursors GO. Herein, GO was synthesized from cellulose corncob by alkalization, bleaching cellulose, pyrolysis, and improved Hummer's method. It found that pyrolysis plays an important role graphitization with catalyst Fe(NO 3 ) to form Gi‐Fe(NO . The material characterized advanced analytical methods.
