Symbiotic Seed Germination and Seedling Development of Epidendrum geminiflorum Knuth from Ecuador

چکیده
A greater understanding of the relationship between native orchids and their mycorrhizal symbionts is needed to ensure more effective orchid conservation strategies. protocol for symbiotic seed germination seedling development was developed E. geminiflorum. Mature seeds were collected from a naturally occurring population in Ecuador. Putative fungi isolated other species used screen ability facilitate vitro either 0/24 h or 12/12 light/dark photoperiod at 20 °C. The fungus Tulasnella calospora (UAMH 9824) Spiranthes brevilabris Florida, USA, also included this study. Sterilization treatments using 0.3%, 0.5% sodium hypochlorite/ethanol 2% calcium hypochlorite tested effectiveness as sterilant subsequent effects on percentage. Effective surface sterilization achieved with NaClO/ethanol hypochlorite. However, significantly higher percentages germinated embryos into protocorms when NaOCl solutions compared treatments. Seed occurred both photoperiods tested; however, delayed observed under complete darkness. Seeds geminiflorum without fungal inoculation; co-culture strains improved significantly. Seedling only cultured asymbiotic medium co-cultured T. caloscopa 9824). Significantly longer seedlings obtained present culture medium. establishment associations confirmed by presence pelotons roots seedlings.

The experiment was conducted in the Agronomy Laboratory of Agrotechnology Discipline, Khulna University, Khulna from 29th August to 17th September, 2009. The experiment was laid out in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors and three replications. The aim of the experiment was to study the efficacy of three osmopriming agents viz ., NaCl, KC1 and CaCb with control on seed germina...
متن کاملInhibitory effects of monoterpenes on seed germination and seedling growth.
Monoterpenes, the chemical constituents of essential oils found in plants, are known biologically active compounds. The present study was conducted to investigate the inhibitory effects of 30 monoterpenes including monoterpene hydrocarbons and oxygenated monoterpenes on seed germination and seedling growth of Amaranthus retroflexus, Chenopodium album and Rumex crispus under laboratory condition...
متن کاملIntegration of light and abscisic acid signaling during seed germination and early seedling development.
Seed germination is regulated by endogenous hormonal cues and external environmental stimuli such as water, low temperature, and light. After germination, the young seedling must rapidly establish its root system and the photoautotrophic capability appropriate to its surrounding environment. Light and the phytohormone abscisic acid (ABA) both regulate seed germination and seedling development, ...
متن کاملNitrogen effects on seed germination and seedling growth
Recent evidence associates the persistence of invasive plant species with disturbance and fluctuations in distinct forms of mineral N in soils. We conducted soil and hydroponic experiments to investigate the influence of N form and availability on germination and seedling development of 2 invasive annual grasses, cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) and medusahead (Taeniatherum caput-medusae) and 6 per...
