Synthesis of Environmental Bioplastic Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) from Waste Glycerol, Palm Oil and Different Concentrations of Glucose by A New Strain Propionibacterium Sp.

Propionibacteria have mainly been found in dairy products and on the skin of humans animals. This genus classified as non-producing PHA but this study we show that Propionibacterium sp. can produce PHA. A member was isolated from soil. The isolate identified based its gram positive pleomorphic rods. Cells occur short chains, singly or pairs, V Y configurations. On mineral salt agar colonies are semi-opaque, convex, glittering often pigmented orange color, biochemical tests 16SrDNA also done. analysis confirmed 85% identity to (accession number NR 074675.1). presence 3HB identified, NMR. 13C 1H NMR sp able PHA.polymer. These confirm results GC. then grown media with waste glycerol (WG), palm oil, different concentration glucose one stage two stages cultivation. lead conclusion is grow utilizing glycerol, oil sole carbon source under limited conditions. content 3 (wt%) composition (mol%) (86% 3HB) when used 2% at frist while 13 (wt %) 5 utilized source.
