Targeting efficacy and anticancer activity of polymeric nanoparticles of SN-38 on colon cancer cell lines

Abstract Background Colorectal cancer is the third most prevailing in whole world. Chemotherapeutic agents which are used for treatment have severe side effects and also unwanted exposure to healthy cells. In present study, polymeric nanoparticles of SN-38 were prepared (using cationic anionic polymers). They optimized by Box Behnken design characterized its physicochemical properties vitro drug release. Optimized formulation (CsENP) was evaluated targeting efficacy Gamma Scintigraphy studies on Swiss Albino mice Cytotoxic assay against colon cell line, viz. HT-29. Results The images Whole body gamma scintigraphy imaging show that CsENP remained intact till 2 h after at 4 it started dispersing releasing continued 20 h. Organ distribution studies, no radioactivity traced heart from formulation. Even liver, spleen, kidney lung trace seen 6 case small intestine maximum (87.8% radioactivity) rectum area At equivalent concentrations, viability HT-29 cells 72 incubation time showed enhanced cytotoxicity.
