TECHNOLOGY ADOPTION UNDER COSTLY INFORMATION PROCESSING
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract A new explanation for imperfect technology adoption is proposed. In the model, agents allocate scarce attention rationally between actions and decide whether how to adopt a technology. Introducing constraints information processing gives rise attentional barriers adoption, which affect optimal behavior. The model can explain why individuals (i) fail profitable technologies, (ii) make best use of adopted technology, (iii) treat complementary technologies as substitutes, (iv) change their decision back forth over time. complements existing learning models consistent with empirical evidence.

Costly Technology Adoption and Capital Accumulation
We develop a model of costly technology adoption where the cost is irrecoverable and fixed. Households must decide when to switch from an existing technology to a new, more productive technology. Using a recursive approach, we show that there is a unique threshold level of wealth above which households will adopt the new technology and below which they will not. This threshold is independent of...

متن کاملOptimal Scrapping and Technology Adoption under Uncertainty
A firm has to decide sequentially to replace its technology and to implement a new one chosen among an increasing range over time under technological and market uncertainty. The optimal decision rule is a (s, S) style policy where the trigger and target technology levels are positively correlated with boom persistence and negatively related with recession persistence and technological uncertain...
