Telecom C-band photon-pair generation using standard SMF-28 fiber

Photon-pair generation must satisfy both the energy conservation and phase-matching conditions with a specific pump wavelength dispersion of nonlinear optical medium, but finding photon-pair, which has desired wavelength, medium is challenging. Here, we present method to create photon pairs that functions efficiently even much larger than zero GVD medium. In this study, employ short SMF-28 fibers having ~1310 nm C-band (1552.52 nm) generate pairs. The measured pair rate coincidence-to-accidental ratios are comparable those from long dispersion-shifted fiber. Polarization-entangled states prepared, an S value 2.659 +- 0.094 achieved Bell inequality measurements. Our results indicate use SFWM yields adequate photon-pair rates regardless its properties in almost any material at wavelength.
