Testate amoebae as non-pollen palynomorphs in pollen slides: usefulness and application in palaeoenvironmental reconstruction

چکیده
Abstract Testate amoebae are a frequently used palaeoecological proxy for reconstructing changes in palaeohydrological conditions, particularly studies of Sphagnum -dominated peatlands. Their use has increased following the development transfer functions, allowing quantitative reconstruction water-table depth through time. Increasingly, they included non-pollen palynomorph (NPP) alongside wide range other proxies, representing valuable tool, multi-proxy studies. have been qualitative assessment palaeohydrology NPP and may aid verification environmental interpretations conditions inferred from curves with unknown ecology taxonomy. usefulness such is limited by destruction tests owing to harsh chemical treatments pollen preparation methods. This makes community distribution data testate derived these methods largely unsuitable depth. Furthermore, many palynological combine as one single curve, losing further ecological detail. Patterns change surviving species, most commonly Assulina , Archerella Arcella Hyalosphenia flavum remain relatively unaffected therefore can still be useful interpreting hydrological time, when coupled proxies.

Allergenic pollen and pollen allergy in Europe.
The allergenic content of the atmosphere varies according to climate, geography and vegetation. Data on the presence and prevalence of allergenic airborne pollens, obtained from both aerobiological studies and allergological investigations, make it possible to design pollen calendars with the approximate flowering period of the plants in the sampling area. In this way, even though pollen produc...
متن کاملPollen and Pollen Tube Proteomics
Germinated pollen grains form pollen tubes that accomplish rapid polarized growth within female gametophytic tissues in order to deliver the sperm cell to the ovule. This process is essential for successful plant fertilization in vivo. Pollen tubes are considered to be an ideal model system to study tip growth. A more comprehensive understanding of proteins involved in pollen development, germi...

Bringing together more than 170 years of data, this study represents the first attempt to construct a species checklist and analyze the diversity and distribution of testate amoebae in Chile, a country that encompasses the southwestern region of South America, countless islands and part of the Antarctic. In Chile, known diversity includes 416 testate amoeba taxa (64 genera, 352 infrageneric tax...

متن کاملPotential implications of differential preservation of testate amoebae shells for paleoenvironmental reconstruction in peatland
Running title: testate amoebae taphonomy and paleoecology 2 Abstract Testate amoebae are now commonly used in paleoenvironmental studies but little is known of their taphonomy. There is some experimental evidence for differential preservation of some testate amoeba shell types over others, but it is unclear what, if any impact this has on palaeoenvironmental reconstruction. To investigate this ...
