With reference to 64 common descriptors of the sensory properties wine (e.g., tannic, full-bodied, etc.), we investigated extent which these terms are understood by Australian standard consumers in relation an opposite property (i.e., as happens case experts). The study also determined how consistently dimensions were among group participants. results confirmed that sensorial relating can be modeled opposites for more than 80% cases. However, there was a great deal variability between elicited indicating some less open ambiguity while others associated with many different opposites.
