Testing Smart Grid Scenarios with Small Volume Testbed and Flexible Power Inverter

The growing penetration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) due to the transition future smart grid requires a huge number power converters that participate in flow. Each these devices needs use complex control and communication system, thus platform for testing real-life scenarios is necessary. Several test techniques have been so far proposed are subject trade-off between cost, coverage, fidelity. This paper presents an approach microgrids, by developing emulator, with emphasis on micro-inverter unit possibility flexible configuration different topologies. In contrast other approaches, our testbed characterized small volume significantly scaled-down voltages safety purposes. examination concentrated specifically inverter behavior. include behaviors case load changes, grid-tied islanded mode, connection removal subsequent inverters, prioritization inverters.
