Sandwich structures benefit from the geometrical stiffening effect due to their high cross-sectional area moment of inertia. Transferred carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components, needed amount fiber (CF) material can be reduced and with it CO2 footprint. The combination a light foam core continuous face sheets is suitable for lightweight design. Traditionally, CFRP sandwich are manufactured in two-step process by combining prefabricated sheets. However, addition reduction used material, manufacturing processes efficiency needed. objective this paper characterization using Direct Composite Molding (D-SCM) one-step production structures. D-SCM utilizes resulting foaming pressure during reactive polyurethane (PUR) system expansion impregnation CF-reinforced results work show that novel strategy feasible one single step achieves good qualities. density morphology significantly influence shear properties thus component behavior under bending load.
