The Evaluation of Staphylococcus aureus Nasal Colonization in Patients with Acute Folliculitis: A Case-control Study

Objective: The prevalence and incidence of Staphylococcus aureus nasal carriage vary according to the population studied. It is known that there a link between recurrence staphylococcal skin infections carriage. study aimed determine S. microbiological profile cultures in patients with acute folliculitis without history recurrence, compare results control group, evaluate demographic factors on bacterial growth. Material Methods: A case-control was conducted secondary state hospital May August 2021. total 120 diagnosed dermatology outpatient clinic were enrolled study. Patients' demographics including age, gender, job, having family folliculitis, visiting barber regularly, health care worker family, localization sites recorded. groups' data from swab also Results: There growth 29.1% patients' cultures. Methicillinsensitive most frequently isolated microorganism both patient groups. no statistical difference controls terms profiles culture. Conclusion: colonization has similar rates healthy population. does not appear be risk factor reservoir folliculitis.
