چکیده
Background: The sensorineural component of hearing loss either in form pure or Mixed components has since long been suspected to be a dreaded sequela chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM). aim this study is access the incidence (SNHL) mixed (MHL) amongst people suffering from both mucosal and squamosal variants CSOM.Methods: A prospective observational cohort (control group: contralateral ear) was conducted at E.N.T. department tertiary care center December 2020 September 2022. 149 patients ages 15-50 gender with unilateral CSOM were included study. other normal ear same patient taken as control ear. tone audiometry diseased ears frequencies 500,1000,2000 4000 kHz determine SNHL MHL.Results: mean age 26.54±8.75 years which, 79 males 70 females. duration disease 3.92±3.32. occurred 25.5% cases, while conductive MHL affected 69.8% 4.7 % respectively. Conclusions: significant number CSOM. Further research needs encouraged management should refined decrease disease-related morbidity.

[Analysis of sensorineural hearing loss in chronic suppurative otitis media].
OBJECTIVE To explore the association between chronic suppurative otitis media and sensorineural hearing loss. METHOD The files of 147 patients with unilateral chronic suppurative media were reviewed in a retrospective study. Differences between diseased and control ear bone conduction thresholds were analysed by the paired student's t-test over the four frequencies (0.5 kHz, 1.0 kHz, 2.0 kHz,...
متن کاملFrequency of Sensorineural hearing loss in chronic suppurative otitis media.
Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) is defined as chronic otorrhea (i.e., lasting > 6-12 weeks) through a perforated tympanic membrane. It is generally associated with some degree of conductive hearing loss. However, recurrent ear infections due to perforated eardrum result in absorption of toxins and macromolecules into the cochlea leading to sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). We planned t...

introduction: conductive hearing loss due to chronic otitis media (com) can be treated by surgery. com, however, may be associated with functional damage to the inner ear. sensorineural hearing loss (snhl) due to com has been found to be significant by some authors, whereas it has been considered negligible by others. the present study aimed to answer the question does com cause snhl ? methods:...

OBJECTIVE To determine whether chronic suppurative otitis media may cause sensorineural hearing loss. METHODS The files of 121 patients with unilateral chronic suppurative otitis media were reviewed in a retrospective study. Air conduction and bone conduction threshold averages were calculated over the speech frequencies (500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz). Thresholds at 4 kHz were examined sepa...
متن کاملSensorineural hearing loss in patients with chronic suppurative otitis media: Is there a significant correlation?
Even though there are other complications of chronic suppurative otitis media, the aspect of hearing loss is often studied. Nevertheless, the occurrence of sensorineural hearing loss in patients with this disease is still controversial. This study aim (1) to assess the association between sensorineural hearing loss and chronic suppurative otitis media, (2) to investigate some clinical factors t...
