چکیده
Abstract Introduction : Despite its central role in medicine electrical stimulation (ES) is still limited by selectivity. Different reports did assess effects of different waveforms, intensities, and frequency on the activation threshold nerve fibres with diameters. We aimed to extend this knowledge investigating effect short monophasic rectangular pulses (1, 2, 5, 10, 50, 100 200 μs) recruitment order. Methods: The sciatic rats was stimulated, evoked compound action potential (CNAP) measured at two sites tibialis nerve, using epineural electrodes. Changes delay, amplitude, shape CNAP were analyzed. Results: amplitude delay significantly affected pulse-width (PW). duration increased longer PW, while decreased. Discussion: Found changes are likely caused time point excitation individual neuron fibres, depending field strength exposure time. This might be particular interest when selecting PWs for design validation patterns analysis experimental clinical observations.

Effects of acoustic noise on the auditory nerve compound action potentials evoked by electric pulse trains.
This study investigated the effects of acoustic noise on the auditory nerve compound action potentials in response to electric pulse trains. Subjects were adult guinea pigs, implanted with a minimally invasive electrode to preserve acoustic sensitivity. Electrically evoked compound action potentials (ECAP) were recorded from the auditory nerve trunk in response to electric pulse trains both dur...
متن کاملThe Electrically Evoked Compound Action Potential: From Laboratory to Clinic
The electrically evoked compound action potential (eCAP) represents the synchronous firing of a population of electrically stimulated auditory nerve fibers. It can be directly recorded on a surgically exposed nerve trunk in animals or from an intra-cochlear electrode of a cochlear implant. In the past two decades, the eCAP has been widely recorded in both animals and clinical patient population...
متن کاملFacilitation and refractoriness of the electrically evoked compound action potential
In this study we aim to resolve the contributions of facilitation and refractoriness at very short pulse intervals. Measurements of the refractory properties of the electrically evoked compound action potential (ECAP) of the auditory nerve in cochlear implant (CI) users at inter pulse intervals below 300 μs are influenced by facilitation and recovery effects. ECAPs were recorded using masker pu...
متن کاملThe Compound Action Potential (CAP) of the Frog Sciatic Nerve
a) In mammals, large peripheral nerves, for example the vagus, the sciatic and the ulnar typically are bundles of thousands of individual axons enclosed in a loose connective tissue sheath, the Epineurium. Within the Epineurium, the axons are grouped in fascicles, encased in a more structured epithelial sheath (the perineurium). Each axon is surrounded by a thin connective tissue sheath, the en...
متن کاملEffect of surface electrode positioning on the compound action potential evoked by ulnar nerve stimulation in anaesthetized infants and children.
The effect of surface electrode positioning on the evoked compound action potential (ECAP) was studied during inhalation anaesthesia without neuromuscular blockade. The ECAP of five full-term infants (aged 2-20 weeks) and five children (age 1-10 yr) was recorded with a neuromuscular relaxation monitor (Relaxograph, Datex) after supramaximal ulnar nerve stimulation. The five recording electrode ...
