The Learning in Development Research Framework for sports organizations

Research has shown how social and cultural factors continually shape an athlete’s development journey. For example, the types of practice designed, in which individuals are identified as talented characteristics that distinguish a good coach, shaped by sociocultural constraints. This potential for myriad possible complex ill-defined challenges (a wicked problem), highlights need framework to guide both research within specific sports organizations. In this paper, we present Learning Development Framework (LDRF), deeply contextualized, transdisciplinary approach action is founded ecological dynamics utilizes Skilled Intentionality (SIF) capture role forces shaping athlete development. Further, practical example from professional football club highlighting main aim LDRF: player frameworks should evolve in, interaction with context practitioners embedded. The implication there no ‘copy paste’ templates. Practitioners applied scientists seek comprehend distinct contextual complexities cultures, communities situations they encounter them, co-creating practices that, respectively, amplify dampen helpful unhelpful aspects sport forms life.
