چکیده
Abstract In this article, we introduce the Maximum Diversity Assortment Selection Problem (MDASP), which is a generalization of two-dimensional Knapsack (2D-KP). Given set rectangles and rectangular container, goal 2D-KP to determine subset that can be placed in container without overlapping, i.e., feasible assortment, such maximum area covered. MDASP assortments, each them covering certain minimum threshold diversity among maximized. Thereby, defined as or average normalized Hamming distance all assortment pairs. was topic 11th AIMMS-MOPTA Competition 2019. The methods described article resulting computational results won contest. following, give definition problem, mathematical model solution approaches, upper bounds on diversity, conclude with experiments conducted test instances derived from literature.

Maximum-score diversity selection
This thesis discusses the problem of Maximum-Score Diversity Selection (MSDS). Pure diversity selection, as it is often performed e.g. in early drug discovery, is the selection of a subset of available objects that is as diverse as possible. MSDS adds a second objective, which additionally tries to maximize the “score” of the subset, which usually is the sum of scores of all elements in the sub...
متن کاملTabu Search for the Maximum Diversity Problem
In this paper, we develop new heuristic procedures for the maximum diversity problem (MDP). This NPhard problem has a significant number of practical applications such as environmental balance, telecommunication services or genetic engineering. The proposed algorithm is based on the tabu search methodology and incorporates memory structures for both construction and improvement. Although propos...
متن کاملComputational aspects of the maximum diversity problem
We address two variations of the maximum diversity problem which arises when m elements are to be selected from an n-element population based on inter-element distances. We study problem complexity and propose randomized greedy heuristics. Performance of the heuristics is tested on a limited basis.
متن کاملNew heuristics for the maximum diversity problem
The Maximum Diversity Problem (MDP) consists in identifying, in a population, a subset of elements, characterized by a set of attributes, that present the most diverse characteristics between themselves. The identification of such solution is an NP-hard problem. Some heuristics are available to obtain approximate solutions for this problem. In this paper we propose different GRASP heuristics fo...
متن کاملSemidefinite Bounds for the Maximum Diversity Problem
The Maximum Diversity Problem consists in extracting a subset of given cardinality from a larger set in such a way that the sum of their pairwise distances is maximum. In this paper we propose a set of bounds for this problem based on semidefinite programming techniques. An extensive computational campaign shows the tightness of the bounds computed with respect to the best known results in lite...
