The message of oldhamites from enstatite chondrites

Abstract We have determined rare-earth element (REE) abundances in oldhamites (CaS) from 13 unequilibrated and equilibrated enstatite chondrites (5 EH 8 EL) a few enstatites by situ, laser ablation ICP-MS. In chondrites, oldhamite REE patterns vary the most primitive petrographic types (EH3) to metamorphosed (EH5). EH3, CI-normalized are convex downward with strong positive Eu Yb anomalies, whereas EH5 display flat enrichments reaching about 80 times CI abundances. The anomalies of found indicate that they represent condensation residual gas fraction, manner similar fine-grained CAIs carbonaceous chondrites. early condensate may been preserved matrix EH. Equilibrated result metamorphic evolution redistribution on parent body. On contrary, all EL (EL3 EL6) single kind patterns, which is upward 100 enriched relative CI, negative anomaly. addition, pattern aubrites (enstatite achondrites). latter observation suggests (including ones) bear signature magmatic event accompanied FeS loss as vapor, prior assembly Given difficulty obtaining precise ages it not possible discuss chronology events recorded patterns.
